“Web 2.0″ button

“Web 2.0″ button

I have never used Photoshop and always wanted to learn.  I even have a tutorial video from CS that I never used.  This Daily Design opportunity is the perfect time for me to take the Photoshop plunge.  I found some free Photoshop tutorials and chose this Web 2.0 button tutorial to try.  Mind you I have NO photoshop experience and the interface is fairly different than Fireworks.  Many of the steps in this tutorial took me quite long because I couldn’t find the tool, etc.  I also think that quite a few of these steps aren’t quite correct for CS4.  For example, I couldn’t find a radial marquee tool anywhere!  (I used the elliptical marquee tool instead but I probably spent 10 minutes looking for the radial marquee tool.)  I had several problems like this.  Giving my Photoshop virginity, this was a challenge.  (Any suggestions for good beginner level tutorials would be appreciated.) It didn’t turn out quite as polished as the tutorial example as my patience was wearing thin.  I am excited though that I actually used Photoshop!

  1. Karen, try holding down the Shift key to constrain the elliptical marquee to a circle. Likewise, use the Shift to force a rectangle to be a square.

    Hope this helps!
