I worked on this one over several days. The first few days, I wasted a lot of time trying to work with images that weren’t really suitable for what I was trying to do — make an image stand out from its background. I thought about using the bride image from several days ago, but I got frustrated masking around the veil and hair. I seem to have completely forgotten how to use my wonderful Mask Pro plugin, and I just couldn’t get the results I wanted. So I switched to an entirely different image.
This worked much better. Once I masked the butterfly, I desaturated and blurred the background. I decided to add a drop shadow to the butterfly layer for a bit of extra depth.
